Folklore Olga Fisch carries a unique shigra collection. Designed by Ecuadorian designers, these shigras made in Ecuador are a unmatched blend of Ecuadorian culture and history. The material used to make a shigra is cabuya, which is the fiber of an agave-like plant, this same material has been used to make rope in the Andes for centuries. The top of the shigra is wrapped with traditional Andean belt. Leather and tagua have been included in some of our strap designs to offer a complete blend of Ecuadorian art and culture. Due to the high variability in color and weaving patterns in the materials used in our shigras, each bag is one of a kind.
